End of free current account at KBC
The KBC insurance bank is ending its free current account from April 1. The basic offer (KBC Basic Account) will cost 2 euros per month, KBC announced. However, the account will remain free for young people up to 24 years old.
Since 2014, KBC has offered a free KBC Basic account and a paid KBC Plus account. Both plans include a current account and, depending on the plan, a certain number of associated banking services.
The bancassurance underlines that the free account offer has been systematically expanded in recent years (with, for example, a debit card, a credit card, a certain number of free money withdrawals, etc.), and that customers want use more and more additional services and features.
KBC says it wants to meet this demand, but “in order to continue to guarantee the same high level of comprehensive service and to develop new applications that allow customers to save money and time, KBC is adapting the account offering », We can read in a press release. Thus, the free basic account increases (from age 24).
Concretely, the KBC Basic account will cost 2 euros per month from April 1, and the Plus account will cost 3.75 euros per month instead of 3.25 euros. Both accounts will remain free until the 24th, and holders of a KBC Plus account will keep the Basic account free (with the same holders).
“The changes reflect rising inflation as well as KBC’s continued investments in innovation, digitalization, security and monitoring complex and rapidly changing regulations,” adds the bank-insurer. He adds that the last price adjustment for the KBC Plus Account dates back to 2021 and that the Basic Account has been free since 2014.
New charging stations
The telecoms group Telenet will launch, from April 1, on the market for the installation of charging stations and intelligent management of electric vehicle charging, it announced on Monday.
Via its subsidiary Blossom, Telenet intends to initially focus on the installation and activation of smart charging stations for company employees. A solution intended for self-employed workers and individuals is planned in a second phase.
In the coming months, Telenet will migrate its entire fleet of electric company vehicles to Blossom. In addition, the Mechelen-based company plans to launch a pilot project involving part of the fleet of the BNP Paribas Fortis bank.
The disappearance of heating oil
Conventional fuel oil (50S) will disappear from the market by April 1. A less polluting but more expensive variant will replace it. The price difference between the two products will be around 36 euros for an order of 2,000 liters, reported Brafco, the Belgian federation of fuel traders. Today, consumers can choose from different types of fuel oil to heat their homes. There is in particular 50S heating oil (conventional fuel oil) and diesel fuel oil (extra fuel oil).
From April 1, the 50S can no longer be marketed, indicated Johan Mattart, general director of Brafco. 50S refers to the permitted sulfur content, in this case 50 ppm (parts per million) or 0.005%.
Only 10S fuel oil can still be sold, a heating oil containing at most 0.001% sulfur. Fuel with as little sulfur as possible is better for the environment. This reduction in sulfur content has been underway for several years.
This new fuel oil will, however, be more expensive due to the sulfur extraction process which turns out to be more expensive. The FPS Economy thus communicated on Monday on the new maximum price of this product from tomorrow/Tuesday. For an order from 2,000 liters, it will cost 0.9679 euros per liter. Taking into account the lower sulfur content, this represents a difference of around 36 euros compared to the 50S on an order of 2,000 liters, Mr. Mattart calculated.
Change for more than 150 general practitioners
The Inami insurance committee approved 48 applications from practices, or 158 doctors, to begin the first phase of the New Deal from April 1, according to the Journal du Médecin and the Inami website. “The impact of these pioneers should not be underestimated,” stressed the minister.
Of the 48 approved cabinets, two are located in the capital and 12 in the south of the country, according to The Doctor’s Journal. The remaining 34 are in Flanders. The minister’s office confirmed that the first phase of this new organizational model concerned 158 general practitioners. However, the number of participating firms (48) is still being evaluated.
Under the New Deal, GPs will receive proportionately less pay for consultations, but will earn more income from fixed funding per patient and bonuses for hiring nurses. The minister called this, at the time, “a significant change for the front line of our health system”. According to him, this new organizational and financial model will allow general practitioners to “rediscover their primary vocation: to devote time and care to their patients”. »
Change on the roads in France
Simplify people’s lives, remove paperwork, remove the risk of fines”: the French government has specified the modalities for removing from April 2024 the green sticker and the insurance certificate that motorists had to systematically have.
“All motorized vehicles remain subject to this insurance obligation which does not change,” underlined the office of the Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire during a call with journalists. The decree should be published in the coming days.
Concretely, the green sticker to be placed on the windshield and the insurance certificate to be kept in the vehicle will be replaced by an entry, within 72 hours following taking out an insurance contract, in a dematerialized file of insured vehicles (FVA) which law enforcement officers will be able to access “from their digital tools on board while on patrol”.
