On the 5th, the KB Stars club announced through the club’s official SNS, “Seon Ga-hee, who loved basketball more than anyone else and worked with him with precious dreams and passion, passed away at dawn on the 4th.”
Seon Ga-hee, born in 2000, was a promising prospect who led the team to national championships in 2017 and 2018 while attending Soongui Girls’ High School. She joined KB Stars with the 2nd round 1st pick in the 2019 Rookie Draft, raising expectations. However, due to a chronic illness, he passed away suddenly at the age of 22.
According to the club, Seon Ga-hee developed symptoms of a brain hemorrhage on the 11th of last month and performed emergency surgery on the same day, and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit until recently.
KB Stars said that the funeral will be held according to the wishes of the bereaved family and that they will do their best to support them.
KB Stars said, “It hurts my heart to deliver such sad news. Both the players and staff are mourning in great sorrow. We pray for the well-being of the deceased.”
WKBL also left a message to commemorate the deceased on the official SNS, saying, “I will never forget and remember that bright and passionate image.”
