“This year, the Kaziuk Fair becomes not only spring, but also the herald of the Lithuanian Song Festival commemorating the centenary. The motif of the well-known song “Eisva mudu abudu” will invite you to immerse yourself in the bustle of the first spring event in Vilnius and prepare for what awaits us in the summer, when not only the old town, but the whole capital will become a big stage of the Song Festival”, says Vilnius City Mayor Valdas Benkunskas .
The traditional procession includes motifs of Lithuanian folk songs
Traditionally, the Kaziuk fair will start on Friday at 2 p.m. – a procession of artisans and other fair participants with St. Kazimieru in the lead.
“Songs and dances attracted another couple often sung in Lithuanian folk songs to the Kaziuk fair this time – these are the 3-meter-high dolls of Virgin and Bernelis Street, specially created for the fair. You will be able to play with them on the streets of the old town during the entire fair, and the bravest will be able to take a spin together in the dance whirlwind,” says the director of the fair, Justina Ramoškienė.
Performers of traditional Lithuanian folk music will also be invited to dance and sing together: “Ratilai”, “Vydraga”, post-folk group “Robaksai”. March 8, 3 p.m. at the celebratory concert of the opening of the fair, Cathedral a. the contemporary program of Lithuanian folk works “Virsmas” was presented by the trio of Karolis Ramoška, Marija Grabštaitė and Sigita Gailiaus.
The melody of the song “Eisva mudu abudu”, which has become the motto of this year’s Kaziuk fair, will also be played on the cathedral square.
This year, more than 800 traders selling non-food goods and over 400 selling food products will participate in the Kaziuk fair. There will be 13 open-air cafes in the entire territory of the fair. If all the merchants’ pavilions were put together, the queue would stretch a bit longer than 4.5 km through the streets of the old town.

Children’s Kaziuk and Smagurii yard
Vaikau Kaziukas, which is becoming a beautiful tradition, will be waiting for visitors all Saturday from 11 am. in the shopping center “G9”. Here, it will be possible not only to get acquainted with the works of young creators, but also to participate in educational workshops of traditional crafts, such as tying willows, weaving ribbons and gardens, paper cutters, and decorating gingerbread.
The most delicious news of this year is the Smagurii courtyard in Lukiškiau square: here more than 140 traders from Lithuania and neighboring countries will present the entire culinary variety of the Kaziuk fair.
The Smagurii yard will become a center of attraction for those looking for non-traditional tastes and experiences: in addition to the abundance of various sweets, six wooden animals are also arriving from neighboring Latvia, along with the Lithuanian pies “Karvutės”. The ancient carousel decorated with them will delight the little ones during the whole three days of the fair.
Support for Ukraine at the fair
The fighters defending Ukraine will also be symbolically supported. In the Odminii Square next to the Cathedral Square, there will be “Birds of Freedom”, which will be called upon by the organization “Strong Together” and “Pakruojo Dvaras”.
They will invite everyone to create nests together, to purchase them, and the collected funds will be allocated to the safe war packages made in Lithuania, which are needed by Ukrainian soldiers fighting for the freedom of all of us. It will be possible to give returning birds a home, and Ukraine wings at the auction, which will be held on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Cathedral a. The auction will be conducted by Edmundas Jakilaitis.
There will be traffic restrictions in the Old Town
Taking into account the challenges related to traffic restrictions, this year it was decided not to organize the trade of the Kaziuk fair on Pilies and Didžioja streets and Town Hall Square.
From March 7 11 o’clock until March 11 4 hours traffic will be prohibited on Gedimina Ave. from Šventaragi to Vilniaus St., except for the transport of the fair.
From March 7 8 p.m. until March 9 8 o’clock traffic will be prohibited in the following parts of Gediminas Avenue: from Jogaila to A. Jakšto Street, from A. Jakšto to Vasario 16-osios Street, from Vasario 16-os to J. Tumo-Vaizganto Street and from J. Tumo-Vaizganto to A. Goštauto streets, except for public transport.
From March 9 8 o’clock until March 11 4 hours traffic will be prohibited in parts of Gediminas Avenue from Vilnius to J. Tumo-Vaižgant Street and from J. Tumo-Vaižgant to A. Goštauto Street, except for public transport.
From March 7 8 p.m. until March 11 4 hours traffic will be prohibited on T. Vrublevskis, Šventaragis, Barboras Radvilaitė, Maironis streets and their approaches according to the agreed scheme.
The movement of public transport will change
Public transport traffic on T. Vrublevskis, Šventaragis, Barboras Radvilaitė, Maironis streets is prohibited from March 7. 24 hours until March 11 5 o’clock Accordingly, the routes and traffic schedules of bus routes 10, 11, 33, 89 will change in the specified period.
Due to the increase in pedestrian traffic during the Kaziuk fair and more intensive car traffic in the central streets of the city, the traffic schedules of trolleybus routes 2, 3, 6, 12, 20 and bus routes 1G, 53 will be additionally adjusted.
March 8 14-15 hours During the procession of the participants of the Kaziuk Fair, the routes crossing Gediminas Avenue – 1G, 3G, 10, 11, 22, 53, 73, 88 buses and 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, 12, 17, 20 trolleybus routes may deviate from traffic schedules.
