Kazakhstan President: The situation is under control

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, announced that constitutional order has been basically restored in all regions of the country, and the local authorities are in control of the situation.

“An anti-terror operation has begun. The security forces are carrying out intensive work. Constitutional order has basically been restored in all regions of the country. Local bodies are controlling the situation,” Tokayev added in a statement, according to the presidential press service.

Tokayev held a meeting with the participation of the leadership of the presidential administration, the Security Council and security forces.

According to the presidential statement, during the meeting, the President discussed the operational situation in the country, the course of the counter-terrorism operation, and the situation in the regions.

State media said that Tokayev is scheduled to deliver a speech to the people of Kazakhstan.
