The 2022-23 regular season is officially over, but before getting down to business, the NBA wanted to reward the best players of the last week of competition. Winners ? Kawhi Leonard – so far nothing abnormal – and… Bobby Portis, much less normal.
Yes, Bobby Portis. The same Bobby Portis who comes off the bench at the Bucks, and whose greatest career action remains the right he inflicted on his teammate at the time Chicago, Nikola Mirotic. Taking advantage of an end to the season without a stake in Milwaukee to release fine individual performances in the absence of Giannis et Cie, the solid role player of the Bucks turned to 20.7 points and 12.3 rebounds in just under 29 minutes per game, with a 59.1% 3-point completion percentage. Suffice to say that Bobby was hot. Enough to allow Milwaukee to win two games in four outings while waiting for the start of the Playoffs.
In the Western Conference, however, no joke, Clippers star Kawhi Leonard wins. Even if Kenneth Lofton Jr. would have made a magnificent winner, it is difficult to miss Kawhi, who confirms his rise in power for the postseason: 25,7 points, 10 rebonds, 4,7 passes, all at 49% shooting including 39% parking. It’s clean, it’s efficient, it’s Kawhi. Led by the Fun Guy, the Clippers won three out of three games – including a highly anticipated one once morest the Lakers – to secure fifth place in the West, despite a still absent Paul George.
Among the other nominees, in the West we have Brandon Ingram (Pelicans), Anthony Edwards (Wolves), Stephen Curry (Warriors) as well as LeBron James (Lakers). In the East, Jimmy Butler (Heat), Pascal Siakam (Raptors), Immanuel Quickley (Knicks) and Jrue Holiday (Bucks) also had serious records.
