The international robotics exhibition “iREX 2022” in Tokyo, Japan was held last Thursday. The local industrial giant Kawasaki released a four-legged mechanical goat “RHP Bex” at the exhibition, which may be used for complex terrain transportation or manned transportation in the future.
This mechanical goat is a branch product of Kawasaki’s Kaleido project. The engineer originally wanted to develop a bipedal robot, but later came up with the idea of making a product that can move quickly on flat ground and deal with complex terrain at the same time. The four-legged mechanical goat with wheels and feet came into being.
The “RHP Bex” mechanical goat is named after the wild sheep in Eurasia and Africa, and its load-bearing capacity is up to 100 kilograms. In addition to transporting goods and manning people, Kawasaki said that the mechanical sheep are suitable for use scenarios related to remote factory inspections. In addition, the upper body of the mechanical sheep adopts a modular design, which means that Bex can be turned into a shape other than a sheep.
