“All this was created, will be presented and will be invited to purchase by members of organizations uniting the disabled. The annual fair is not just for the usual Christmas shopping and gift shopping. It sends a clear value message, calling to change the stereotypes still prevalent in society.

We are happy that our spaces are filled with community spirit for the fourth time and become proof that disability does not deprive people of sincerity, creativity and the desire to make others happy. A product created with love and the warmth of hands brings even more joy, so visitors will not only choose Christmas gifts, but also experience the real miracle of being in the community. After all, that’s what Christmas is all about,” says Brigita Kuodytė, manager of Kaunas’ Akropolis.

Kaunas City Museum will also invite you to educations and workshops. Visiting museum departments is free for people with disabilities and their accompanying person.

Kaunas – for everyone

“The city continues the annual awards “Kaunas for all”. This is a symbolic thank you and a sign of respect for those who are creating Kaunas, where it is good for everyone to live. At the same time, it is a reminder that we must design the living or working environment and leisure spaces in such a way that they do not become an obstacle for a person with a disability, and are as conveniently accessible as possible”, says Ingrida Visockienė, chairperson of the Health and Social Affairs Committee of the Kaunas Municipality Council.

Throughout December, Kaunas residents are invited to pay attention and propose applicants in three categories – business, local and initiative. The winners will be announced at the beginning of next year. The nominees will be evaluated by the Commission of the Council for the Disabled.

Kauno Buses, which won the “Business of the Year” nomination last year for the smart app “Voice of Transport”, still cherishes this award today.

“By annually evaluating socially responsible companies and their initiatives, the city will set a very good and necessary tone. This is an additional motivation to seek even higher quality services.

We are constantly looking for innovative solutions that would make traveling by public transport easier for seniors, disabled passengers or passengers with reduced mobility. We are glad that we were noticed and appreciated. The people of Kaunas are critical and observant people, so I believe that this year they will also help to select companies and initiatives that set an example for others to follow,” says Mindaugas Grigelis, CEO of Kaunas buses.
