Katzian: Discussion about non-wage labor costs “gets me crazy”

“So I’m really worried regarding the additional wage costs,” he said on Wednesday in the “Ö1-Morgenjournal”. Anyone who wants to reduce costs must say where they want to start – following all, these are wage components for the employees.

As an example, he cited employers’ contributions to health and pension insurance. “Anyone who wants to reduce non-wage labor costs now wants to question things that were fought for by the unions and employees. We are definitely not doing that,” said the top trade unionist.

Rather, he called for a reduction in high inflation, which is now a clear disadvantage for the location. Economic measures such as the expansion of network infrastructure and public transport, social housing and childcare would be important.
