His undivided support to ADEDY strike tomorrow and to its “too many fair demands”, expressed the president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakisin a meeting he had with her Executive Committee of ADEDY.

Mr. Kasselakis pointed out that “tomorrow is also an important day for the soul of our country following Tempe crime a year ago”. “The whole world, who feels disappointed by the lack of rule of law and justice in our country, must stand by these families and that there can be justice and with political responsibility as soon as possible,” he stressed.

Regarding her issues ADEDY, noted that “we all know that the world of work is plagued by a tremendous precision following years of inflation, following years of no wage increases.” He stressed that there are many measures the government needs to take precisely “starting from electricity and food cartels”. Note that SYRIZA supports “the horizontal increase of salaries in the public sector by 10% and the restoration of the 13th and 14th salary, as it is in the private sector”. “We are at your disposal to promote your issues parliamentaryly as we can, we think that what you are asking is from fair to self-evident,” he commented.

He also said that “there must be proper operation of SEPE so that there is control at work, fewer accidents”, as well as increasing the allowances of the heavy and unhealthy and including above categories in them. “We must finally staff the Public, it is not possible for the Public to be understaffed and the Greek taxpayer first of all not to have high quality services and secondly, where there is a loss due to understaffing, to pay for the broken ones”. “So”, he continued, “it is important for our finances to staff the State properly and efficiently and at the same time that there can be a regime of dignity with working rights so that the State can be competitive.” He said that “it is a job to serve your nation and work for the state should be able to be done on terms that are just.”

For his part, the president of ADEDY, Dimitris Bratis, stated, among other things, that Mr. Kasselakis included in his opening statement “all that is in the assertive context of our tomorrow’s strike”. “Tomorrow marks one year since the crime, as we call it, of Tempe. Last year ADEDY took the initiative and made a strike mobilization where hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets and unfortunately to this day the responsibilities have not been assigned”, he said. He noted that “the whole world of work tomorrow, public and private sector is on the way to say ‘we can’t take it anymore precisely, we want real raises'”. “To be able not to live with dignity but to survive anymore, because living with dignity has unfortunately been lost a long time ago,” he commented.

He also spoke regarding the issue of public understaffing, while also mentioning that the government considers that privatization is the way to go, “when there is de-privatization all over the world”. He commented that “the communication narrative of the government that it is giving increases to the State for the first time following 14 years is a lie. Mr. Hatzidakis, the Minister of Finance is lying. The increases in the public sector are in the order of 38 to 40 euros per month, which is ridiculous, a mockery. He himself talks regarding 1,425 euros net per year and this is a big lie.”
