Kasselakis Proclaims a Win for Everyone as He Sets Sights on Tsipras

Stefanos Kasselakis tried to convince that he had the best intentions and that he was doing “the best for everyone” during the stormy meeting of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA, at noon on Thursday (5.9.24).

“I was honest and sincere towards everyone,” the president of SYRIZA-PS, Stefanos Kasselakis, reportedly said at the beginning of the meeting of the Political Secretariat.

According to information, Stefanos Kasselakis is reported to have said that “for a year he has been in the position of president, he considers him honest and honest with all and sundry”.

As he said, he was also honest towards those who left the party such as Euclid Tsakalotos and Efi Ahtsioglou, for whom he recalled that he offered to take any position he wished.

Continuing, always according to the same information, he reportedly said that “he was also honest with Alexis Tsipras“.

Especially, for the former president of the party, he mentioned that even in April, after the event for the European elections, he sent him messages to do joint actions, but he kept silent.

And all this in view of the meeting of the Central Committee next weekend and while the Ethics Committee did not take a decision on Christos Spirtzis today either and will meet again next Tuesday.

“You questioned partners for dishonest behavior”
The “dissenters” reacted to what he said, stressing that he is the only one who has questioned his companions for dishonest behavior.

As they pointed out, the one with the video he made public was succeeding against those who disagree with him.

He imposed conditions and refused elections
Stefanos Kasselakis refused to go to the polls for the election of a new leadership, as requested by Pavlos Polakis, Olga Gerovasilis and Thanasis Theocharopoulos and asked them to pledge that they will not leave the SYRIZA Parliamentary Group.

“I consider that a motion of censure in my face hurts and liquidates the party and offers nothing. It’s also a big bummer from the very body that decided the Statutory Conference”, said Stefanos Kasselakis, addressing his colleagues.

Earlier, Olga Gerovasili and Thanasis Theocharopoulos, starting their statements, said that the best solution is to appeal to the polls in order not to file a motion of censure. Then Pavlos Polakis intervened and said that “the motion of censure will injure the party, so the best solution is to go to elections. He added that: “For me, the problem is a leadership problem.” Pavlos Polakis also said: “In democracy there are no dead ends. There must be a political agreement to go to elections. If there is no (i.e. political agreement) then there is the next step”, implying the motion of censure. Pavlos Polakis, moreover, cited as an example the initiative of Nikos Androulakis for elections in PASOK-KINAL.

Although from the side of the president of SYRIZA it is pointed out that he does not wish to appeal to the polls, given that Stefanos Kasselakis is used to responding to challenges, many fear that it is possible that he will announce that he will go to the elections since he is being questioned by a part of the Central Committee of SYRIZA.
