The president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, was asked to respond to his lengthy post that raised the issue of “black money” even for SYRIZA, who admitted that he had been offered “black money”.
“Yes, they have proposed to me. It is an idea that does not express me. On the other hand, this idea exists in Greece. It also exists in parliamentary elections and at the level of MPs for expenses,” he said characteristically speaking to Alpha and Antonis Schroiter.
“I am referring to the options that many, very willingly, suggested to me in order to avoid the painful choice of financial rationalization that is also mentioned in the media. And the other time I returned to the US, the first meeting was with Avgi,” he characteristically noted, while when pressed to answer whether there was black money in the party before him, he noted:
“As far as I know there is no such issue, but I will have to speak to the former CFO. There was a contract for Avgi for 1 million euros which kept the paper alive but I don’t think it reflects the commercial activity of the paper. Dawn can continue to produce. It’s not black money, but these relationships generally exist in Greece.”
Asked if Alexis Tsipras is undermining him, as he mentioned in his initial post, before talking about the former prime minister’s “games”, he characteristically emphasized: “I changed it because I considered the second expression more accurate. It is important to stop the discussion outside the party and the institutions about welding.
Many of us, last year, young people in SYRIZA who rallied against an indifferent government, worked hard for Alexis Tsipras and SYRIZA for an autonomous party. The idea of liquidating SYRIZA in one shape does not express us.
The honest position is to say that the official opposition has been able to maintain its role, it is entitled to be the leading force and the leader of the official opposition to be the leader of consensus.
The leader of the official opposition must be the leader of such a scheme. This discussion must end. If PASOK wants parliamentary cooperation, we are here. We need a clear commitment to each other and to the world, that the party will not be liquidated but will continue autonomously to become a government.”
At the same time, although he denied that it was his own environment that leaked the news about Alexis Tsipras’ non-contribution to the extraordinary fundraiser he announced for Avgi, he left a clear edge against the former president: “I never said that he did not contribute to Avgi. I was also abroad and in two minutes I made the deposit online.
The work he did in the government is a very good work. I honor it, it is a legacy on the basis of which we must act. The party that I took over with the vote of the members had pathologies and problems”.
