“Proud that there is humanity and solidarity in our country” declares the president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, after learning, as he emphasizes, that with the help of the local community of Rhodes, a solution was found to the housing problem of the teacher who was forced to sleep in his car.
“As long as we don’t have a State, we at least have each other. But our request is to finally build a State. A state that respects its citizens” he adds in his post.
Stefanos Kasselakis’ entire post:
Politics never stops.
They informed me that with the help of the local community of Rhodes, a solution was found to the accommodation problem of the teacher who was forced to sleep in his car.
And I am proud that there is humanity and solidarity in our country.
But the problem of housing our teachers and professors who go to serve outside of Athens – and especially in expensive, tourist areas – cannot be an issue that is solved by the citizens themselves.
It is an issue that the State itself must take care of.
That is why, in the face of the apathy of the ND government, SYRIZA has drawn up a special housing program for teachers, security forces and Armed Forces, in island and border areas.
It is precisely these programs, these proposals of SYRIZA that are “buried” by the media in order to show the small and insignificant – unfortunately with a lot of our own responsibility.
“My fellow men helped me,” said the Rhodes teacher.
As long as we don’t have a State, at least we have each other.
But our request is to finally build a State.
A state that respects its citizens.
