Kasselakis challenges Tsipras while Polakis raises the question of leadership 2024-09-03 22:00:06

While Stefanos Kasselakis is heading for a final break with Pavlos Polakis, he chooses to throw down the gauntlet to Alexis Tsipras for the first time, calling on him to stand up directly, while at the same time all possibilities seem open, from the new recourse to intra-party ballots to the new split.

As he stated to Realnews: “I would at least expect Alexis Tsipras not to tolerate various of his uninvited interpreters speaking or writing implying that they represent him. All of these shrink his profile from former prime minister and faction leader to group leader. If he wants, he can position himself for what is happening in our area, without “circles” and “leaks”. Clear and open, as it was placed on the opening day of our Conference in February and its placement answered by the conference body.

Mr. Kasselakis targets scenarios regarding the possible creation of a new center-left party, and fires his arrows at the “87” group, saying: “What is visible is a plan for a nebulous center-left figure-“rag”, which aspires to co-house defeated political plans, whether we are talking about the whole or a part of the still-semitic PASOK, or about executives of SYRIZA and the New Left. Willingness seems to exist from all sides, as well as willing business circles.

At the same time, with a midnight post by Paul Polakis preserves the possibility of filing a motion of censure:

“Here came:

-Time for radical changes in the leadership of SYRIZA-PS
– Time for tough and effective opposition
– Time to put a bow to shoot them down
– Time for a program and plan to bring back the social majority in conflict with the entanglement”.

For his part, Nikos Pappas: President KO SYRIZA – PS, points out: “The president has taken a clear position and says that he will not put the members of the party to the test again. Let’s go to organized extroversion”.

Yannis Sarakiotis, Parliamentary Representative of SYRIZA – PS, points out: “There should not be a new appeal to the ballot box”.

Dionysis Kalamatianos attributes divisive logic to Stefanos Kasselakis and calls for an escape through the members, as he stated speaking on the First Program “Leadership to rise to the occasion – Appeal to the polls by decision of the leadership”.

The former president of the Parliamentary Group, Sokratis Famellos, in an interview with the Editors’ Newspaper, after clarifying that he has no personal ambitions, distances himself from a motion of censure: “I raise the issue of a wrong and harmful policy of our leadership. I would not choose a new division with a motion of censure.”

On the contrary, he leaves open the possibility that the MEP of SYRIZA – PS, Nikolas Faradouris, will claim the leadership of the party, speaking to Sky: “Anything that could help a way out, including my own involvement, will be something that I will consider.”

In his letter to the Ethics Committee meeting on Wednesday, Christos Spirtzis characterizes the decision to delete him as premature and emphasizes that the seriousness, credibility and solvency of the party cannot be recovered with the sole responsibility of the leadership.

On the way to the crucial meeting

Feverish deliberations, debates, positions and rebuttals in the foreground and ferments in the background to strengthen or rearrange alliances, this is what will characterize the final week, on the way to next weekend’s crucial central committee.

Stefanos Kasselakis chose to bail, throwing the gauntlet to the side of Alexis Tsipras and inviting him to place himself directly in what is happening.
At the same time, and although the leadership’s moves are considered by many to create conditions for a rapprochement with Pavlos Polakis, he appears ready, more ready than ever, to press the red button by filing a motion of censure.

And Nikolas Farandouris now directly states that he will be a possible candidate if a race for the leadership opens. The 87 are preparing their moves by weighing whether to file or sign a motion against the president.

And of course the movements of the leadership are expected since Stefanos Kasselakis will be challenged through a motion of censure. It is very likely that, whether it passes or not, the way will be opened or an extraordinary conference will be proposed that will clarify the issue of nominations and, of course, the possibility of a new election race.
