Aziz explains that for this work, they collect different types of bones and use them to make different items such as candle holders, pendants, pen holders, earrings and other items.
For Aziz, bone carving began as a hobby.
‘In my free time I used to occupy myself with something or the other. I used to be inspired by watching videos of such different works that if people from other places can do it, why can’t we do it in Kashmir.’
Aziz’s journey began during the coronavirus lockdown, when he realized that he had a lot of time that he didn’t know what to do with.
As a student of the fisheries department, he turned to social media to seek information and started watching videos of bone carving.

According to Aziz, inspired by this art form, he started making different types of images on bones and gradually mastered the art of bone carving, but it was not an easy task-
