Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina failed to reach the second round of the WTA tournament in Berlin.

In the opening match, the 26-year-old Russian woman, seeded at the tournament under the eighth number, lost to her compatriot Elina Avanesyan, the 81st racket of the world, with a score of 2:6, 6:3, 6:7 (7:9).

Avanesyan’s next opponent will be the winner of the pair Laura Siegemund (Germany) – Anna Blinkova (Russia).

The Russian woman lost to the Wimbledon champion in the first round of the tournament in Berlin

Kasatkina takes 11th place in the world ranking (the best of the Russians). She has won six WTA tournaments in her career.

In another match of the first round in Berlin, Russian Vera Zvonareva lost to the second racket of the world, Belarusian Arina Sobolenko with a score of 3:6, 2:6. For the 38-year-old Russian woman, the ex-second racket of the world, this was the first match in the main draw of the WTA tournament since last March, when she reached the third round in Miami. Now Zvonareva is ranked 1232 in the WTA rankings in singles.

The tournament in Berlin will end on June 25th. The prize fund of the competition is €678,000.

Later on Tuesday, Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova and Lyudmila Samsonova will play in the first round in Berlin. The betting company Fonbet accepts bets on Alexandrova’s victory with a coefficient of 1.62, Samsonova – 2.30.
