The team of Colombian singer Carolina Giraldo, better known as Karol G, denied on Tuesday, July 9, her participation in the electoral campaign of Nicolás Maduro, who will seek reelection as president of Venezuela on July 28.

“The statements made by politicians or political parties that have mentioned that Karol has sent songs for campaigns are not true,” said a spokesperson for Karol G’s team in an interview for the website The Colombian.

The singer’s staff insisted that the artist has never made music with political purposes, and that she will not make any statements on matters related to these issues.

Karol G’s team representative insisted that the singer is focused on her tour Mañana será bonito, which she is currently presenting in several European countries.

The clarification came following President Nicolás Maduro confirmed on Sunday, July 7, that Karol G had written a song for him for his campaign ahead of the July 28 elections.

“Karol G sent me a song for my campaign, we are going to premiere it in the next few days. Look, I have already rehearsed the dance. Here they know me as Gallo Pinto, but abroad they are calling me Nicol G, I don’t know why,” Maduro said at a political rally.

This is not the first time that Nicolás Maduro has expressed his admiration for Karol G. On June 29, 2024, the Venezuelan president danced on stage at a political rally with Rafael Lacava, governor of Carabobo, to the song “Amargura” performed by the Colombian singer.

Karol G in Venezuela

Karol G’s team mentioned that the strongest relationship the singer has with Venezuela is through her fans.

In March 2024, the Colombian singer performed two concerts at the Monumental Simón Bolívar stadium, located in La Rinconada, Caracas. The first performance took place on March 22 and featured Elena Rose and urban singer Micro TDH as opening acts.

The second concert of “La Bichota” in Caracas featured the participation of Venezuelan singers Servando and Florentino, who together with the Colombian singer performed “De Sol a Sol”, an iconic song from the 1990s in Venezuela and some Latin American countries.

“I remember singing this song with my friends at school and I hope that you know and understand this song,” said Karol G.

La Bichota sang the intro of the song and, later, the Primera brothers appeared in the middle of the central catwalk of the stage.

Servando, Florentino and Karol G finished the presentation of “De sol a sol” with the choreography of the song and the iconic “vueltica”.

“I am so excited to have you in Venezuela. I love you like crazy,” said Servando Primera, referring to the Colombian artist.
