Karnataka Education Minister Found Guilty in Check Case, Fined Rs 6.96 Crore

Bengaluru: Karnataka Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa has been found guilty in the check case and has been fined by the court. The Special Court for People’s Representatives in Bengaluru has ordered that the accused pay a fine of Rs 6.96 crore or face a mere six months in jail.

The action is in the check case issued by Rajesh Exports once morest Akash Audio-Video Pvt. Ltd., who is in the position of ministerial director, in connection with the check return case in 2011. The court observed that Madhu Bangarappa was prolonging the court proceedings despite agreeing to pay the money several times. The BJP demanded that the minister resign in the wake of the court order.

The fact that the convict in the check case remains the education minister is a disgrace to the state government and the education department. The minister should understand this and resign. BJP state president BY Vijayendra demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should demand the minister’s resignation.
