With a lead of 58 votes, Karina Nieves Serranocandidate endorsed by the governor Pedro Pierluisiwas preliminarily the winner in the special election for mayor of Good Waters held this Sunday; closely followed by Carlos “Junior” Aponte.
The very close difference between the two candidates implies a recount that will begin tomorrow, Monday, at 8:30 am in the State Election Commission (CEE), announced the electoral commissioner of New Progressive Party, Vanessa Santo Domingoin front of the Permanent Registration Board where the vote count was made.
Nieves Serrano preliminarily obtained 1,126 votes. Meanwhile, Aponte, who is also nicknamed Cidrita, achieved 1,068 votesreported the undersecretary of the PNP, Gabriel Rodriguez Aguilo.
Miguel Rodríguez Cruz obtained 365 votes, Efraín “Toñito” Ocasio 144 and Rosa Vázquez, six.
60 votes added by hand remain to be awarded, in addition to the 13 votes of the inmates who cast their vote on Friday.
The results will be official when the EEC certifies them.
