After a goal drought that lasted 115 days, Saudi Al-Ittihad team star Karim Benzema succeeded in achieving a historic comeback, after scoring the fastest goal in the history of the Saudi Super Cup.

Yesterday, Monday, Karim Benzema was able to score the first goal for his team Al-Ittihad against its rival Al-Wahda in the 56th second of the match, thus entering the history of the Saudi Super Cup from its widest gates.

This is the first goal of Karim Benzema, who is 36 years old, with his team, Al-Ittihad, specifically since he scored against Al-Ahly of Egypt in mid-December, in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup.

Benzema raised his tally of goals with his Al-Ittihad team to 13 goals, including 10 in the league championship, in addition to 8 assists in 27 matches he played in various competitions this season.

Benzema scored the goal with a shot from inside the penalty area before the first minute had ended, while Al-Ittihad’s second goal was scored by its Moroccan player, Abdel Razzaq Hamdallah, in the 42nd minute, while Al-Ittihad’s only goal was scored by Hussein Ahmed Al-Issa in the 90th minute.

The match ended with Al-Ittihad defeating Al-Wahda by two goals to one, allowing Al-Ittihad, the defending champion, to qualify for the tournament final against Al-Hilal, which defeated Al-Nasr, next Thursday.

Al-Hilal team defeated Al-Nasr by two goals to one, in a match that witnessed the expulsion of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo minutes before the end of the match’s regular time (in the 86th minute of the match).
