Karagiozis Hydraios, Lazaros Kountouriotis, Bouboulina and other heroes of the Revolution of 1821 become figures of the shadow theater, open the door of the Hydraic mansion and welcome its visitors. Their contemporary creator, Thanasis Tzoitis, from his love for the shadow theater of Karagiozis and for historical and folkloric research, created these two-dimensional figures of the Revolution, which are inspired by realistic portraits of the fighters and their clothes, as they are stored in the Collections of the National Historical Museum.
National Historical Museum: “Karagiozis in ’21. Figures of Fighters by Thanasis Zoitis”
His work as a whole numbers over 150 figures of land and sea fighters, as well as figures of the Neo-Hellenic Enlightenment and Philhellenism. A part of this is exhibited in the periodic exhibition of the Historical House of Lazaros Kountouriotis.
It is noted that figures of Thanasis Tzoitis in Greek local costumes are presented in a permanent exhibition, in the annex of the Greek High School in Paiana.
