According to the details given in the report: ‘The suicide blast took place in front of the guard room near the outer terminal of the Jinnah International Terminal. The police reached the spot after hearing the sound of the explosion.

It was further informed that in the explosion, three people including two Chinese citizens Li Jun and Sun Huazin lost their lives while more than 12 people including Waqar, Ilyas, Naeem, Rano Khan, Azim, Tariq, Ali, Hamza, Sabih were injured.

According to the report submitted by the CTD in the Anti-Terrorism Court, 15 vehicles were completely destroyed in the blast and a case of the incident was registered in the CTD police station under the charge of the Airport SHO. It added provisions including murder, attempted murder, assault, use of explosives and terrorism.

This development has taken place at a time when the Chinese state media reported yesterday, quoting the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that Beijing had ordered a police officer to join the investigation after the death of two Chinese nationals in Karachi. Interagency Working Group has been sent, which has immediately started working with the embassy in Pakistan and the related company.

On the night of October 6, there was an explosion at the signal of Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, the echo of which was heard several kilometers away. Initially, the local police called it an oil tanker explosion, but later it was ruled a suicide attack.

In this attack, two Chinese citizens lost their lives, while many Pakistani citizens, including a Chinese citizen and a woman, were injured.

The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which claimed responsibility for the attack, declared it a suicide attack in a statement released to the media on October 7 and said that the suicide attack on Karachi Airport was carried out by BLA Majeed Brigade. Fadai Shah Fahad Badini alias Aftab performed.

The Chinese embassy condemned the attack and said that the convoy of Port Qasim Electric Power Company was attacked near the airport.

The embassy called on the Pakistani authorities to ‘take practical measures to fully ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions and projects.’

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the death of Chinese citizens in the Karachi attack.

While the Foreign Office said in its statement that this heinous act of terrorism is an attack not only on Pakistan but also on the lasting friendship between Pakistan and China. We are determined to bring those responsible for this cowardly attack, including Majeed Brigade, to justice.

It was further said that ‘Pakistan’s security and law enforcement agencies will leave no stone unturned to nab the criminals and their facilitators.’

The Foreign Office also said that “Pakistan reiterates its unwavering commitment to the safety and security of Chinese citizens, development projects and Chinese institutions in Pakistan and to work with its Chinese brothers to defeat the forces of terrorism.” Will continue to work.’
