The rapper published a message on his social networks in which he returns to his anti-Semitic comments. In Hebrew, he now pledges to “promote unity”.
Restore your image at the dawn of a new album or real redemption? No one knows. Kanye West apologized on Tuesday, December 26, for the anti-Semitic remarks he made twice last year.
Addressing the “Jewish community” in Hebrew, in a message posted on social networks, the rapper returned to “[ses] words” et “[ses] actions” : “I did not intend to hurt or demean, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused. Your forgiveness is important to me and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity”he wrote.
Controversies
In December 2022, Kanye West (who now calls himself Ye) said “[adorer] the Nazis”on the set of Infowars – American show hosted by far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Before bidding : “I see positive things regarding Hitler.” The artist then posted a tweet in which he expressed his desire to attack Jews in the future. Comments which cost him his partnership with Adidas, in October 2022, and his X account (ex-Twitter).
If he apologizes today, Kanye West had already stated, last March, “love the Jewish people” once more. “No one should turn their anger towards one or two individuals into hatred towards millions of innocent people”he declared on Instagram, following watching 21 Jump Street – a film in which Jonah Hill, a Jewish actor, plays. “No Christian can be called anti-Semitic knowing that Jesus is Jewish. Thank you Jonah Hill, I love you”concluded the rapper.
