COLUMBIA, Mo. – Teh Kansas State men’s golf team, spearheaded by junior Alex
Lindstrom, concluded the Tiger Intercollegiate tournament with a commendable
fourth-place finish. the event, held at the club at Old Hawthorne, a par-70,
7,158-yard course in Columbia, Missouri, tested the mettle of collegiate golfers
on Monday and Tuesday.
The Wildcats faced demanding conditions, carding a 54-hole score of 21-over par
861.The course proved challenging for all teams, with none managing to finish
under par. The second round,initially suspended on Monday night,saw K-State
resume play Tuesday morning,posting a 4-over par 284. They matched this score
in the final round, demonstrating consistency amidst adversity.
Lindstrom Leads the Charge
Alex Lindstrom emerged as a key player for the Wildcats, tying for 13th place
with a final score of 4-over par 214, marking the second-best showing of his
career. His performance was highlighted by a final round of 1-under par 69, his
best round of the season, which propelled him seven spots up the leaderboard.
Lindstrom, hailing from Halsted, Sweden, has shown a particular affinity for
tournaments early in the season. His second-place finish at the Wildcat
Invitational in September 2023 demonstrated his potential, and his performance
at the Tiger Intercollegiate further solidifies his standing within the team.
His only other top-20 finish prior to the Intercollegiate was a tie for 20th
place at the Wildcat Invitational too.
While Lindstrom’s individual performance is noteworthy, college golf is

Senior Ian McCrary and freshman Erik Sabelström Holmberg showcased their

Cooper Schultz, another senior, tied for 35th place, carding identical rounds of
1-over par 71 to conclude the tournament. Nicklaus Mason rounded out the
team’s performance, tying for 70th place at 15-over par 225.

The host school, Missouri, secured the team title at even-par 840, edging out
Saint Mary’s by eight shots and Nebraska by 14. Mattias Varjun of missouri
