Kansas City – Bloody incident at the Super Bowl winners’ parade. On Wednesday followingnoon (local time) a man fired into the crowd.

During the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory celebration, shots were fired at the city’s train station, at least 22 people were hit, one of them killed. Police Chief Stacey Graves announced this in a short press conference that was broadcast on X (formerly Twitter).

For the three-kilometer-long victory parade, around a million Chief fans gathered near the train station to celebrate their Super Bowl heroes. The mood was exuberant – when suddenly shots were fired at the train station!

Stars like Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes were taken off their bus by police when the shots rang out, according to the Daily Mail.

At least 22 people were hit by the shots: one person died shortly followingwards despite first aid measures. A local radio station announced in the evening (local time) that one of its presenters, Lisa Lopez, had been killed.

According to the fire department, eight of the 21 injured were taken to hospitals with life-threatening injuries.

Because of the victory parade, many students were given the day off on Wednesday so they might take part. Therefore, there were many children among the spectators and, according to the fire department, at least nine minors were also among the shooting victims.

According to the club, no players, employees or relatives of the Kansas City Chiefs were injured. Super star Taylor Swift (32), who is in a relationship with Chiefs player Travis Kelce (32), was not at the victory parade.

After the shots were fired, officers immediately rushed to the station square, police said. They pursued the suspected shooters on foot. Apparently fans also took part in the pursuit of at least one of the shooters.

According to police, a total of three men were arrested. Initially there was talk of two.
