Kannur: Edakkad police have arrested another man in connection with the murder of a youth in a bomb attack on a wedding party at Thottada in Kannur. Arun (25), a native of Katachira, was arrested.
The arrest was made following it was found that Arun had given the sword to P Sanath, a native of Kadampur, who had come to help the Echoor gang. With this, the number of those arrested in the case has increased to five. Two swords were found in a wooded field near Arun’s house.
Defendants testified that Anoop, a native of Podikundu, provided the explosives used to make the bombs. Meanwhile, Thalassery CJM court remanded Sanath.
According to police, Sanath Vadiwal came at the request of P Mithun, the main accused in the case and the leader of the Echoor gang. He is also a friend of Sanath’s aide Arun Mithun. Police said that Arun had admitted that he had delivered the sword and that Arun was part of Sanath’s group who reached the garden in a jeep on Sunday.
