After a moment of interruption, activities resumed at the Kankan Regional Press House on February 13, 2024. On this occasion, the press associations denounced the Internet restrictions and the jamming of the airwaves.
The president of the Association of Journalists in the Kankan region returned to the difficulties that press companies face.
“Today, the media situation is very complicated, we did not think that the transitional authorities were going to behave like this in front of the media. Some media outlets had problems with the late regime, but at no time did this regime follow the logic of removing media from the Canal bouquet. Today, many partners have left the media, so revenues have fallen. While these are people who work in these media, their jobs are threatened. Our toes are at the gates of hell because we have no income, we cannot bear the expenses so much that it is difficult. We can neither pay the rent nor meet the children’s school fees. I ask President Mamadi Doumbouya to be very careful regarding sins,” Laye Famo Condé declared during a press conference.
