As the head of the brain cloning lab… Filming in January and post-production in progress
Yeon Sang-ho “The person who used to be a Korean movie itself”… Netflix “It’s an honor to be with you”
(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kang Ae-ran = Actor Kang Su-yeon, who passed away on the 7th, broke the long hiatus and returned to the screen, and the last work ‘Jung-i’ (working title) left behind is drawing attention with regret.
‘Jungi’ is a sci-fi film directed by Yeon Sang-ho, who directed ‘Train to Busan’ and ‘Hell’, and is scheduled to be released on Netflix this year. It cranked in last November, finished filming in January of this year, and is currently working on post-production.
The film is set in the 22nd century, when a civil war broke out in a shelter made by mankind, where it is no longer possible to live on Earth due to climate change.
It depicts the story of people trying to create a humanoid combat robot that will be the key to the victory of the Allied Forces by using Jeong-i, who was the most elite leader of the Allied Forces, as a brain cloning test subject.
Kang Su-yeon takes on the role of Seo-hyeon, the team leader of a research institute that develops brain cloning and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Seohyun is the person responsible for cloning Jeong-i’s brain and testing her combat power.
Kim Hyun-joo, who played the role of Jeong-i, is known to have shown the subtle emotional acting of a cloned human in repeated brain cloning experiments. It seems that Kang Su-yeon worked closely with Kim Hyeon-joo in acting.
Ryu Kyung-soo takes on the role of Sang-hoon, the head of a research institute who must succeed in Jung-i’s brain cloning experiment.
‘Jungi’ received great expectations from the production stage in that it is a work that the deceased will return to the screen in 9 years following ‘Juri’, which was released in 2013. This is the first time the deceased has appeared in a science fiction film, who started acting as a child actor at the age of four.
When the work was first introduced to the media in July of last year, a profile picture of the deceased in a blue short-sleeved dress that showed off her body and short hair was also released.
Director Yeon Sang-ho wrote on Facebook on the same day, “The one who used to be a Korean movie itself. Rest in peace, senior. I will never forget the past year I spent with you.”
Netflix also posted on Instagram, “It was an honor to be with the late Kang Su-yeon, who always showed great acting and good energy on set. I will never forget every moment of actress Kang Su-yeon, who did her best for a good work.” he lamented.
