“I was proud of the modifier of office papa, and I was grateful once once more for being able to take on a character that I wondered if I might do it.”
Kang Ki-young, who played an active role in the ENA drama ‘Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo’ as Jung Myung-seok, an office-class mentor, said this.
Recently, I met actress Kang Ki-young, who was active in the ENA drama ‘Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo’ in Apgujeong, Diamantino, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Kang Ki-young is an actor who made her debut in the play ‘Bad Magnet’ in 2009. In 2012, she entered media acting with MBC’s ‘Magic’, focusing on tvN dramas such as High School King, Oh My Ghost, Let’s Fight Ghost, Why is Secretary Kim like this. He showed off his ad-lib charm in a variety of works and showed off the presence of a licorice actor.
In the ENA drama ‘Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo’, which is his comeback following 3 years, he played an active role as a senior lawyer with 14 years of Han Bada Law Firm, which is the background in the play, and Jung Myeong-seok, a direct supervisor and mentor of Woo Young-woo (Park Eun-bin).
In particular, at the beginning of the play, he seems to be somewhat ignoring Woo Young-woo, who has japes spectrum disorder, and gradually accepts him skillfully and personally without prejudice. He is facing a new turning point with his acting charm that perfectly imparts coolness.
During the interview, Kang Ki-young talked regarding the life he lived as Jung Myung-seok in ‘Woo Young-woo’ with his unique humor and his serious yet calm side.
– How do you feel regarding the ending?
▲Thank you for the love. I’m grateful for the ending interview, but I’m a little sad because it’s over.
-Where did you put the key to expressing Jung Myung-seok’s character?
▲I was aiming for a senior lawyer with an FM feel. But he was not confined to him alone.
At first, it seems to have been removed from the setting and expressed only outwardly. It was a role with a completely different resolution from before, so there was fear and it did not melt. As I put him down a little bit and thought regarding acting centered on actor chemistry, it seems to have gradually loosened up and finished with the current talent.
Also, since actor Park Eun-bin, who plays Woo Young-woo, is a good friend with a good basics, he was stimulated by him and he refined his basics and posture a little more and it helped me to play Myung-seok.
– What was the most difficult scene in the play?
▲The court scene in the beginning of the play was the most difficult. I felt psychologically tense at the pressure of 30-40 people together.
Thanks to that tension, I think I was more immersed and trusted in the character. I completely relied on the character, thinking that if I didn’t believe in the character myself, I might be seen as pretending to be that character.
– What do you think of the evaluation that Jung Myung-seok’s character is an unrealistic boss?
▲It was portrayed very nicely as a boss who acknowledges and accepts mistakes with the canteen god. Also, I don’t think there is a boss who repeatedly gives opportunities itself.
In the drama, Woo Young-woo stimulated Myeong-seok’s heart as a newcomer, and I think he was persuaded thanks to the story process that awakens justice rather than skill.
– Viewers were bewildered by the sudden transition to stage 3 stomach cancer. Did you know the flow in the first place?
▲ I found out through the script in the middle of the play. I was a little nervous because few of the characters I’ve played have had this kind of narrative.
While I was trying to build up this narrative, I felt a human touch to take care of Jung Myung-seok like Woo Young-woo, and I tried to complete it by substituting him into the character.
– As a person, how do you see Jung Myung-seok’s character?
▲ Human Ki-Young Kang feels happiness even in small things, but Myeong-Seok Jung doesn’t seem to be. I want her to be a personality that can put down a little more and feel happy (laughs).
As Woo Young-woo’s mentor, Jung Myung-seok admits his mistakes and gives them opportunities over and over once more, giving him a perspective that allows him to look at possibilities beyond failures in front of him.
– What is the most memorable event in the drama?
▲ This is the case of ‘Bangguppong’, which declares the liberation of children. Although he declared liberation in the wrong way, the emotions that played in nature still remained, and it became a scene that reminded me of him.
Isn’t the title of ‘Kang Ki-young supporting the liberation of children’ coming out? (Laughs)
– How was the atmosphere on site?
▲ Excited. From Eun-bin Park, Jong-hyuk Joo, and Yoon-kyung Ha, all of my fellow actors responded with a lot of fun to the elements I threw in, and I was grateful that the directors also accepted those parts well despite their tiring schedules.
In particular, when Park Eun-bin saw Jung Myung-seok’s stage 3 stomach cancer script, he cried, saying that the dialogue itself was humanly sad.
– How did you feel when you heard the nickname ‘Office Papa’?
▲ I am grateful once once more for being able to take on a character that I am proud of and wonder if I can do it.
Through Woo Young-woo, he returned to the new lawyer who dreamed of justice, and it seems to have been well reflected as a helper who allowed Woo Young-woo to stand at the center of his career as a lawyer.
-Season 2 production plans were reported exclusively. What is your intention to appear?
▲Of course there is. Even when other people were careful, we talked regarding season 2. (laughs)
I want to feel the good scene once more. In terms of the story, wouldn’t it be ‘bright lawyer Jung Myung-seok’ who became the representative of a law firm. (Laughs)
