England created virtually nothing in the first half of the quarter-final once morest Switzerland. One of those who had the toughest time on the pitch was star Harry Kane.

Then the former Tottenham player Jamie O’Hara stepped out with the big saw.

– He doesn’t look fit and he’s lazy. He really bothers me, he told Talksport, continuing his sawing:

– I am afraid that we have a Ronaldo in the team and that we have to play him.

“Don’t move at all”

Even Alan Shearer was on the same track. In the closing minutes of the first act, Bukayo Saka sent a cross into Kane, who didn’t look particularly interested.

– That is a good ball and Saka has every right to ask: Where are you? Saka is waiting for someone to get there but Kane isn’t moving at all, he says.

In the 67th minute, Kane drew a warning and just in time for the penalty decision, he was replaced by national team captain Gareth Southgate.

After the match, Bukayo Saka commented on his teammate.

– His playing style is a little different now, of course we want him to touch the ball more. But we are ready for the next round, now we will check the match tomorrow and then see what we can do better for the next one, he says.

Praised by Southgate

Union captain Gareth Southgate paid tribute to his team captain following the match:

– He leads the team fantastically well, he is so positive around the camp all the time. He guides young players through what they were forced to go through during the tournament. He convulsed when he fell and we felt we needed fresh legs. But it is another feather in their cap that they won the penalties without him.

Kane himself:

– We are in the semi-finals, so we are doing well. Today was probably our best effort. Switzerland is a good team. We believe we can do something special.

– We are proud to be in the semi-finals. We know how much it means to everyone back home. We want to make them proud.

England later won the match and progressed to the semi-finals.
