Kane, Red Wings agree to one-year deal

On Sunday, it became clear that Patrick Kane signed a new one-year contract for the Detroit Red Wings. Financial terms of the agreement were not made public.

Kane, 35, accounted for 47 points (20+27) in 50 games for the Red Wings last season; his first with Detroit following signing a one-year contract worth $2.75 million on November 28. The forward missed the opening 24 games while recovering from hip surgery, which took place on June 1, 2023.

Selected first overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Kane spent his first 16 seasons in Chicago before joining the New York Rangers in a trade on February 28, 2023. Kane ranks third in Blackhawks club history in goals number of goals (446) and games played (1161), as well as second in assists (779) and points (1225), surpassed only by Stan Mikita (926 assists, 1467 points).

During his NHL career, Kane has collected 1284 points (471+813) in 1230 regular season games with the Blackhawks, Rangers and Red Wings. He has the second most points of all time among American ice hockey players, surpassed only by Mike Modano (1,374).
