The winner of the diploma and a free bus excursion for the whole class to the “Latvian Forest Days” on May 26 or 27 in Tērvete will be received by the 6th grade of Kārļis Mülenbach High School, teacher Danuta Eva Bite.
Diplomas of appreciation and seeds for a new forest were earned by another 7 participants of the Olympiad, who were active in forest research:
Brenglui primary school grades 1-4. class, teacher Gunita Bayare,
2nd grade of the Kandava Karlis Mühlenbach High School, teacher Ligita Zāgēre,
Class 9c of Viduskurzeme elementary school-development center, teacher Zane Freija,
4th grade of Riga 49th secondary school, teacher Jana Sakne,
2nd grade of the 4th primary school in Jelgava, teacher Iveta Krūmiņa,
Grade 1c of the Ogre Center elementary school, teacher Iveta Bučeniece,
Floriculture club of the Natural Science School of Riga Young Technicians Center, teacher Jeļena Golovanova.
1st-9th graders from Latvian schools might participate in the LVM Forest Olympiad. classes or class teams consisting of 6-30 students. The task of the Olympics was to increase oxygen – to go to study and exercise in the forest, inspired by the ideas for exploratory hikes prepared by LVM and LOK, as well as planting and growing trees! Students might do this both in autumn, picking and planting acorns, and in winter, taking care of planted trees, and also in spring, collecting new pine and spruce seeds from cones. Additional prizes were awarded if the participants had inspired others to increase oxygen by publishing their activities also on the public accounts of the school or teachers’ social network “Facebook”.
