Thrissur ∙ Prominent Malayalam rock musician, guitarist and music director John P. Varki (51) collapsed and died at home. He was a member of the band John ‘Avial’ who made a name for himself in the music scene with the album Jigsaw Puzzle. Jigsaw Puzzle was the first Malayali band to reach MTV channel. Later he became a member of the band Slow Pedals.
He is the music director of movies like Frozen, Kammatipadam, Eda, Unnam and Olipor. John composed the music for the songs ‘Para…para’ and ‘Chingamasathile’ in Kammatipadu. He composed the music for the Telugu film Idi Sanghatti and the Kannada film Karthik. He also composed background music for the movie Neithukaran.
He won Best Music Director at the Madrid Imagine India Film Festival for the movie Frozen. Asia composed music for famous dancer Daksha Seth and participated in the Helsinki Music Festival. Mannuthi Mullakkara is a family member at Bailoor Kittan house near Don Bosco School.
