Vice President Kamala Harris said during her recent tour that she supports immigration reform that would increase border security, but also offer a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
“We know our immigration system is broken and we know what it will take to fix it – comprehensive reform that includes, yes, strong border security and an earned path to citizenship,” he said in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to pass the toughest bipartisan border security bill in decades, but Donald Trump rejected the bill because he thought it wouldn’t help him win an election,” Harris charged.
“Well, when I’m president, I’ll sign that bill into law.”
Civil organizations celebrate Harris
Leading civil society organizations, such as Immigration Hub, highlighted the Democratic candidate’s support for immigration reform, both in her speech in Nevada and in Arizona.
Douglas Rivlin, senior communications director for America’s Voice, highlighted the differences between Harris and Trump on immigration issues.
Trump has said he will promote mass deportations, which would begin with one million undocumented immigrants.
