Kamala Harris slightly ahead of Donald Trump, according to several polls

The race for the US presidential election is a very tight race, with US Vice President Kamala Harris holding a slight advantage over former President and Republican candidate for re-election Donald Trump, according to several polls as of Sunday.

The most significant difference is the one offered by the new poll published by ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos, which gives the Democratic candidate a 50% lead compared to Trump’s 45% support, although Harris fails to overtake the former president (2017-2021) on key issues such as the management of the economy and immigration.

According to the poll, Harris would beat Trump by 50% to 45% among all adults and by one percentage point less (49%-45%) among registered voters.

And he would also surpass him among potential voters by 51% compared to the New York magnate’s 45%.

The poll by the consulting firm Ipsos, like the average prepared by the website FiveThirtyEight, reflects the closeness of these presidential elections, at a time when Vice President Harris is preparing to officially accept her nomination next week at the Democratic National Convention.

In the FiveThirtyEight average released Sunday, Harris leads Trump by a margin of 2.6 percentage points (46.4% to 43.8%).

And according to an aggregate of polls released by The Hill/Decision Desk, Harris leads Trump nationally by a narrow 1.8 percent (49 percent for the Democrat to 47 percent for the Republican).

The Democratic duo (Harris and her running mate, Governor Tim Waltz) have managed to reverse the bad omens for their party ahead of the November elections that US President Joe Biden had when he was a candidate.

Various polls now show a very close race between Trump and Harris.

Trump will be busy next week with an intense agenda of campaign events to counter the media spotlight that will be focused on the Democratic National Convention in the coming days, where Kamala Harris will be officially announced as the vice-presidential candidate.
