Kamala Harris leads Trump by 16 points among Latino voters

According to the data, the vice president Kamala Harristhe Democratic candidate, has a 16-point lead over former President Donald Trump in the voting intention of the Latino community.

Last June, Trump held a 2-point lead over President Joe Biden among those same voters.

Suffolk University poll shows 18 percentage points of Latino voters changed their vote after President Biden dropped his candidacy and nominated Harris.

According to the poll conducted Aug. 25-28 in all 50 states and the District of Columbia among 1,000 registered voters, Harris has 47.6 percent of the vote, while Trump has 43.3 percent.

David Paleologos, director of the Center for Political Research at Suffolk University in Boston, said in a statement that “young people, people of color and low-income households have shifted sharply toward the vice president.”

The vice president’s candidacy for president has increased support for the Democratic Party among Latino voters.

In June, Trump held an 11-point lead among 18- to 34-year-olds, but in August the situation reversed, with Harris gaining a 13-point lead over the Republican, for a total swing of 24 points.

In June, the Republican candidate had a 3-point lead over the Democrats among people earning less than $20,000 a year. Now, the Democratic candidate has a 23-point lead in that group.

Undecided voters still hold important votes in determining the winner of the upcoming Nov. 5 election, with 4.8 percent of people still undecided on a candidate, according to the poll, which has a margin of error of +/- 3.1 points.
