Kamala Harris Doesn’t Break Through Among American “WASPs”, Here’s Why She Chose Walz –

To win the elections, Kamala Harris needs a “white male”, but a pro-abortion and leftist. This is why she chose Tim Walz, governor of Minnesota, as her traveling companion to the White House, candidate for vice president. The move is clear: they need to steal votes from the Republicans. And Walz has already done it several times since 2006, when he snatched his first seat in the Minnesota Parliament in a historically Republican district, and in 2019 when he became governor of his state.

His CV is that of an average American man: sixty years old, former member of the US armed forces and therefore a veteran, a high school geography teacher like his wife, whom he met at school. Two children, both born with assisted fertilization. And here begins his “liberal” story, which in the US does not mean liberal but left-wing. Assuming that in vitro fertilization is left-wing, it is the beginning of Walz’s battles for women’s freedom of choice over their own bodies and therefore also to have an abortion, a topic dear to Harris. Very attentive to LGBTQ+ rights, so much so that, due to its legislation, Minnesota is considered the ideal state for transgender people, with medical care accessible to all and free school lunches.

An old shooter, he renounced weapons after the 2017 Las Vegas massacre, so much so that he donated the funding he had always received from the very powerful gun lobby to non-profit organizations.

Donald Trump’s comment is that Walz is a dangerous extremist, who wants to block drilling, is an enemy of farmers and wants to transform Minnesota, a state in the American Midwest, what is called the “belly” of America or the “deep” America, into California, a state on the West Coast that has nothing to do with the hinterland that the vice-presidential candidate represents. In reality, Kamala Harris chose him for the exact opposite reason: to compensate for her being radical chic. Running with her requires someone with his feet on the ground, who understands the needs of the lower social classes and of the real economy as opposed to finance and the big tech companies, which are now more than ever in crisis even on the stock market. With an extra tidbit: if Harris-Walz win in November, the current vice-president, Peggy Flanagan, will become governor of Minnesota, and she would not only be the first woman but also the first descendant of indigenous people in that role.

Walz’s family is traditional, but he doesn’t judge the others, rather he supports them. A dangerous communist, according to Trump, probably because of foreign policy, central in these elections (among other things, Walz knows China well and speaks Mandarin) but on economics and ideals perhaps more of a man of the open, modern, concrete right, disguised as a Democrat, who can therefore steal votes from Trump. In fact, it is with him that the real competition will be, not with JD Vance. Certainly a threat for the Republicans, but not so much because Trump’s driving force is difficult to replicate. Even if they could compete for votes on the same issues, which is why Walz was chosen by Harris, there is no competition between the firepower of the unscrupulous New York billionaire and the provincial man. The photo posted by Hillary Clinton on Instagram to endorse Walz is significant: a white-haired man loved by children at school. And be careful, there is no respect for the quotas reserved for minorities in that shot. If, when Biden was still a candidate, the electoral campaign was all about who was older, perhaps now it will focus on who is “whiter”, in skin and views. After all, Kamala Harris is neither Barack Obama, who represented a dream for Americans, nor Bill Clinton, the progressive from Arkansas. And she had to look for the right support: perhaps she is the first to have realized that being a woman of Indian origins is not enough to become President of the United States. Instead, it is necessary to know the needs of the poor people, whom she has never frequented between California and Washington.
