The Democratic candidate opened a can of Miller High life, a famous American lager, in the studio where “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” was filmed, something neither of the last two presidents would do, as Donald Trump and Joe Biden doesn’t drink.
The host revealed to the audience that the show’s writers had checked in advance what they had to serve “because you can’t just offer the vice president of the United States a drink like that.”
Picking up the can of beer, Harris revealed that she had recently been drinking with husband Doug Emhoff.
“Okay, the last time I had a beer was at a baseball game with Doug,” he said, chuckling.
Her appearance on the show was part of a media campaign that also included an appearance on “The View” by Harris and a lengthy interview with Howard Stern on the SiriusXM radio network.
As with those shows, on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” the mood was cordial and no in-depth questions arose. This satirical show often pokes fun at Donald Trump.
At one point in her tenure, her Republican opponent’s name was mentioned, and Harris was quick to respond: “You know, when you’ve lost millions of jobs, when you’ve lost businesses, when you’ve lost auto plants, you’ve lost elections, what does that make you? Lost.”
“That’s what happens when I drink beer,” the presidential candidate then joked.
