Kakul camp improved the atmosphere of unity in the team: Babar Azam

Captain of Pakistan Cricket Team Babur Azam has said that the atmosphere of unity in the team has improved with the training of the players in the Kakul military training camp.

Last month, there were reports of differences in the team over the appointment of Babar Azam as the captain in place of former captain Shaheen Shahid Afridi. Pakistan’s newly formed selection committee appointed Babar Azam as the captain of the white ball team in place of Afridi last Sunday.

Shaheen Afridi was removed from the captaincy after a 4-1 defeat by New Zealand in January and under his leadership, Lahore Qalandars, who have won two consecutive trophies in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), are in this year’s PSL edition. I got the last position.

The national team is participating in a fitness camp organized by the Pakistan Army in Kakul from March 26 to April 8, during which local media have reported tensions between Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi arrived at the fitness camp in Kakul on Monday, where he met Afridi, Babar Azam and other players.

Reportedly, the purpose of this meeting was to end the differences between the players.

In a video message shared by PCB, Babar Azam said, “This time our focus was on team-building activities and performance-enhancing lectures rather than physical fitness.”

He added: ‘Unlike the norm during other camps and international series, we engaged in confidence-building exercises and team-building activities.’

‘Remarkably, we shared rooms which created a deep connection between the players.’

The Pakistan captain said that having one place in the training camp helped the players to discuss strategic planning and team combinations.

He added that the players also talked about the latest methods in the game of cricket and analyzed their opponents.

According to Babar Azam: ‘The camp has proved to be exceptionally valuable in view of the upcoming cricket matches. This not only reduced the risk of injury, but led to an increase in both individual skills and collective team performance.’
Pakistan cricket team will participate in home T20 series against New Zealand in April, T20 series against Ireland and England and ICCT20 World Cup in USA and West Indies in June.
