Kakao Mobility denied rumors that it would abolish the free taxi calling service.

Kakao Mobility said on the 10th, “We are not planning to abolish the free calling service.”

He continued, “Kakao Mobility will continue to do its best to create a faster and more comfortable mobility service as a partner that accompanies the movement of people across the country.”

Previously, some media outlets reported that Kakao Mobility discussed plans to reorganize its taxi calling business at a management meeting in early February, “among them, Kakao T included a plan to eliminate the free calling service.” As a result, rumors spread that Kakao Mobility would abolish the free taxi calling service.

Meanwhile, Kakao Mobility is under investigation by the Fair Trade Commission for allegedly driving taxi calls. Taxi call driving means that when a taxi is called through Kakao T, a member taxi is dispatched first rather than a regular taxi.
