The Canadian has a gem in his hands in Kaiden Guhle.
Already, in his rookie season, he demonstrated that he had the makings of an impact defender in the National League. Basically, his defensive game makes him excellent on the ice… And we can talk regarding a complete defender because Guhle is fully capable of attacking.
Ah, all that… That’s without mentioning his leadership qualities. The young man had the honor of captaining Team Canada junior at the 2022 tournament (which was canceled due to COVID-19) and he also wore the “C” on his jersey in junior , when he wore the colors of the Prince Albert Raiders.
We see big in him on the organization side, and with good reason. He has what it takes to become one of the excellent defensemen in the NHL…
If we know that he is already very good in his zone, we can wonder what his offensive ceiling is. Philippe Boucher, who saw him in action during the Hockey Canada preparatory camp in 2021, did not joke when talking regarding the young man from CH:

Phillipe Boucher has played a total of 748 games in the National League and he knows what he is talking regarding.
That said, will Guhle automatically become a 50-60 point defender? Not necessarily. But hearing a former NHL veteran talk like that regarding a 21-year-old young man, I think it’s a good sign.
Especially since Boucher, well… was a defender.
For that to happen, Guhle will have to have a role on the power play and that’s not the case right now. However, I see him driving the CH blue line in powerplay before long because he can do it.
I’m curious to see Kaiden Guhle’s progression this season because his development seems to be going wonderfully. However, we must hope that he can stay healthy because he only played 44 games last season…
All this to say that we have the right to be excited when talking regarding the young man. In fact, we should be excited when we talk regarding him and his future within the Montreal Canadiens organization.
