PT Kereta Api Indonesia Operation Area 9 Jember engineered the operational pattern of the Blambangan Express train for the Ketapang Banyuwangi-Semarang connection on Thursday evening due to flooding in Semarang.
“Apart from the Pandalungan train, operational pattern engineering was also carried out on the Blambangan Express train which departed at 19.35 WIB,” said KAI Daop 9 Jember Legal and Public Relations Manager Cahyo Widiantoro in a written statement received in Jember, Thursday.
He said that previously the Blambangan Express train journey ended at Semarang Tawang Bank Jateng Station, then for departures this Thursday, the train will make its final stop at Alastua Station or one station before its final destination Tawang Station.
“The Blambangan Express train departs from Ketapang Station with a series of one executive class train and three economy class trains, then at Jember Station the trains are replaced and additional executive class trains are made,” he said.
He explained that the Ketapang-Semarang train departed from Jember Station carrying four executive class trains and three economy class trains, so that it was in accordance with the original formation.
“KAI Daop 9 hopes for prayers and support from all parties so that the flood will recede soon and road obstacles can be resolved quickly so that train travel can return to normal,” he said.
The flood that inundated the train tracks in the Daop 4 Semarang area caused several trains to have to detour quite far, including the Pandalungan train connecting Gambir-Jember Station which experienced delays in arriving at Jember Station for up to six hours.
