Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been confirmed on a farm in Kagoshima Prefecture for the first time this season, and culling is underway.
Highly pathogenic avian influenza was detected in chickens at a poultry farm in Izumi City. Since the morning of the 3rd, the prefecture has been culling approximately 23,000 chickens raised at this poultry farm.
This is the first time this season in the prefecture that a highly pathogenic farm has been confirmed, and on the 3rd, Governor Shioda held a web meeting with Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Shoji Maitate, and announced that surrounding farms should be disinfected to prevent the spread.
