PRESIDENT Joko Widodo responded to allegations of private jet facility gratification involving his youngest son Kaesang Pangarep. The former Mayor of Solo and Governor of DKI Jakarta only commented briefly that all citizens are equal in the eyes of the law, including his son.

“Yes, all citizens are equal in the eyes of the law, that’s all,” said the President briefly after watching the Indonesian national team match against Australia at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/9/2024) evening.

Previously, the Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman and lecturer at the Jakarta State University (UNJ) Ubaidilah Badrun on Wednesday (28/8) reported Kaesang Pangarep, who is the son of President Jokowi and the General Chair of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) to the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) on suspicion of corruption in the form of receiving gratification in the form of private jet facilities.

KPK Chairman Nawawi Pomolango emphasized that his party has the authority to investigate allegations of gratification for the use of private jet facilities involving Kaesang Pangarep.

The alleged private jet gratification also involved the name of the President’s son-in-law who is also the Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution. KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika invited Kaesang and Bobby Nasution to provide data related to the alleged receipt of gratification.

According to Tessa, the provision of the data does not stop the ongoing process at the KPK’s Complaint Service Reception Directorate (PLPM). (Ant/P-3)
