SEMEN Semen Padang FC had to swallow another bitter pill after losing to Bali United FC in the second week of the BRI Liga 1 2024/2025, Sunday (18/8) afternoon at the Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar. The final score of 2-0 was the result that Semen Padang had to accept, extending their negative trend at the start of this season.

In the match attended by 5,311 spectators, the club nicknamed Kabau Sirah actually showed resistance since the first half. They tried to build attacks, but failed to score. On the other hand, Bali United, who also had difficulty penetrating Semen Padang’s defense in the first half, managed to find momentum at the beginning of the second half.

Bali United’s first goal was scored in the 51st minute through Kenzo Nambu’s action, who took advantage of the rebound from Privat Mbarga’s shot that was blocked by goalkeeper Diky Indriyana. Only three minutes later, Bali United doubled their lead again through Privat Mbarga’s hard kick in the 54th minute.

Semen Padang had opened up hope by scoring a goal in the 72nd minute through their captain, but the goal was disallowed by the referee after a VAR review showed an offside position. This defeat means that Semen Padang has not been able to win a point from the first two matches of this season.

Meanwhile, Bali United coach Stefano Cugurra was satisfied with the results achieved by his team. “Thank you to the supporters who always give support. This victory provides additional motivation for the next match,” said Coach Teco.

Bali United has now collected six points from the first two matches, while Semen Padang must immediately rise from the slump before facing the next challenge. (N-2)
