CHIEF of the Criminal Investigation Agency (Kabareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police, Commissioner General Wahyu Widada, responded to the results of the examination of the Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI), Benny Rhamdani, who admitted that he did not know the identity of T, the boss of online gambling. Wahyu asked Benny not to just talk if he did not know the truth.
“Yes, if you don’t know, why say it. No, if you don’t know, don’t say it,” said Wahyu at the Cikarang Customs and Excise Warehouse, Jl. Junction, Cikarang Utara, Bekasi Regency, Tuesday (6/8)..
Initially, Wahyu was reluctant to comment on Benny’s second examination which was carried out on Monday afternoon until evening, August 5, 2024. This was because it had been conveyed by the Director of General Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Brigadier General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro.
“Wong has been told by Pak Djuhandani,” said the three-star police general.
Then, when asked about the legal consequences that Benny received due to the alleged spread of fake news or hoaxes, Wahyu was reluctant to answer. He just smiled and walked away from the media crew.
For information, Benny Rhamdani was questioned twice by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police regarding the figure of T, the controller of online gambling in Cambodia. Namely on Monday, July 29 and Monday, August 5, 2024. However, during the two examinations, Benny has not explained the figure of T who is said to be immune from the law.

“Regarding the material, it will go to the investigators, yes, regarding the material, it will go to the investigators,” said Benny after leaving the examination at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit Building, South Jakarta, Monday (5/8).
In addition, Djuhandhani explained, during the first examination on Monday, July 29, 2024, Benny was given around 23 questions by investigators. However, during the examination with 23 questions, Benny did not reveal the figure of T.
Therefore, the examination was continued today, Monday, August 5, 2024. In fact, in this follow-up examination, Benny was said to have corrected the source of information related to T. In the first examination, it was said that the informant was a migrant worker in Cambodia. However, in the second examination, the source was said to be the Head of BP2MI Serang Joko Purwanto, who has now passed away.

“We asked about the initials T. The person concerned could not answer who Mr T was,” said Djuhandani.
Now, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police is no longer questioning Benny. This is because the information digging from Benny is deadlocked. Benny also knows nothing about the figure of T who is said to be the controller of online gambling in Cambodia. Moreover, the source of the information has died.
“I think it’s enough (examination), why should we investigate further if the person concerned claims he did not say it,” concluded Djuhandani. (P-5)
