Kanhangad: DYFI at Balla Higher Secondary School Ground under the name of K Seven Soccer. 39 foreign players played for different teams in the Kanhangad football tournament. The stars came from countries like Ivory Coast, Sudan, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana and Liberia.
Kamara of Liberia and Dors of Sudan, who came to the field the other day, commented that these natives play football well.
Anthony from Uganda and Lulu from Ivory Coast commented that the food in Kerala is delicious.
Most of the foreign players came here on three-year contracts. The season is from November to May. Their expenses for coming and going in one season alone is more than six lakh rupees. Most of the players’ sponsors are from Malappuram.
The Sevens Football Association conducts 50 tournaments in a season in the state. Foreign players participate in four to eight matches in a tournament. The players say that they can earn up to 25 lakh rupees per season.
K7 Soccer Football Tournament Final will be held on Monday. In the final, National F.C. Kottapuram and 3rd Mile Sporting Emarat will clash.
