K-pop lost another young star: Park Bo Ram died of cardiac arrest (†30)

The collapse and subsequent cardiac arrest became the cause of death of only thirty-year-old South Korean singer Park Bo Ram. The police have started the process of investigating her death. According to investigators, the singer was drinking with two other women at a friend’s house in Seoul at the time. There she subsequently collapsed, following which she was taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead at 11:17 p.m.

The report states that Park Bo Ram excused herself to go to the bathroom at approximately 9:55 p.m., but did not return for some time. When her friends went to check on her, she was found unconscious, slumped over the sink. The girls attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation until the ambulance arrived.

The singer’s death was reported by her representatives. “We have sad and heartbreaking news to share with you. Park Bo Ram died suddenly late on the night of April 11th. All the artists and executives of XANADU Entertainment are deeply saddened. The funeral will take place following consultation with the family,” a statement from her agency said, among other things.

Just ten days before her death, Park released a new single titled I Miss You and was reportedly preparing to release an album. The singer is thus another of the young generation of South Korean artists from the local pop scene who left this world prematurely. Singer Moonbin was found dead in his apartment last year, at the age of 25 he took his own life. That same year, another K-pop star, Choi Sung-bong, died, probably by his own doing. In 2019, there were even four deaths among young singers there. South Korea has the highest youth suicide rate of any developed country in the world. In addition, K-pop stars are under enormous pressure.
