K. Harris: The US cannot play political games on aid to Ukraine

“When it comes to our support for Ukraine, we have to remain firm and we cannot play political games,” she said at a press conference, standing next to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

After expressing confidence in Kyiv’s biggest financial and military supporter, V. Zelensky added that he “doesn’t think that our strategic partner will allow itself to stop supporting Ukraine.”

The two leaders addressed the press after bilateral talks on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

K. Harris noted that the last time they met in Munich was two years ago, five days before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“Over the past two years, we’ve had a lot of conversations with you and you’ve shown extraordinary courage — and accomplishments on the battlefield,” she told Zelenskiy.

“And our support is unwavering and unending,” she emphasized.

Thanking K. Harris for the US support since the beginning of the war, V. Zelenskiy emphasized that Ukraine “needs your unity in such a difficult period for us and, of course, for the United States.”

In the United States this election year, when Donald Trump may return to the White House, there are fears that his return to power could undermine current US support for Ukraine.

Trump has spoken out against President Joe Biden’s military support for Ukraine.

A little earlier on Saturday, V. Zelensky stated that he was ready to give D. Trump a “tour” of the front lines.
