Federal government is tackling numerous improvements for voluntary work
Vienna (OTS) – After today’s summit of the federal government with Chancellor Karl Nehammer, State Secretary Claudia Plakolm and the large voluntary and non-profit organizations, proposals from the JVP, such as a service point for volunteers, will be implemented.
„The comprehensive package from the federal government relies both on recognition and on service for clubs and organizations. It is particularly pleasing that State Secretary Claudia Plakolm’s request for a volunteer service point has been implemented. This will provide a central and competent point of contact in times of many complex issues“, JVP Secretary General Dominik Berger is pleased.
The Federal Government will reform the Volunteer Act. The plan is to set up a nationwide service point for volunteers, a new state prize for volunteer work and more money and a free climate ticket for volunteers in the social year (FSJ). In addition, civil protection organizations and rescue services will receive additional funds for equipment and infrastructure. The deductibility of donations to non-profit organizations is also to be expanded.
With the volunteer service point, voluntary associations will have a direct point of contact for ambiguities, further training or legal questions. In addition, the volunteer centers in the federal states are to be strengthened with their own project funding.
The Young People’s Party (JVP) has been campaigning for the establishment of a service point for volunteers in recent years. Most recently as part of the “Volunteering is a matter of honor” tour in summer 2022. State Secretary Claudia Plakolm visited the various voluntary organizations from the voluntary fire brigade, rural youth and Rotary to the e-gaming club on 80 dates.
