ÖVP student spokesman criticizes implementation by responsible university students.
Vienna (OTS) – As part of the election for the student body (ÖH), the server crashed regularly, some students were unable to vote and the results are still not available due to problems with the counting.
“It is a tragedy that the federal representation of the ÖH cannot organize its own election. Against recommendations, the ÖH has for the first time commissioned a private company with the processing instead of the federal data center. A smooth wrong decision, as is now confirmed. Complete clarification is needed here,” says Marchetti.
“These are Berlin conditions and certainly not standards for legal representation of more than 350,000 people. This bumpy implementation drove down an already low turnout even further. Server problems caused the voting system to fail for hours on the first day of the election, and there were similar incidents on the second day as well. In the previous elections, the technical component of the election process was handled by the Federal Computing Center, this year the Federal Representation decided to outsource it to a private provider. Massive problems already arose during the preparation of the voters’ register.
